We are still hard at work putting together the full line-up for BAND 2019, but are delighted to announce a number of the international guitarists who will be making BAND 2019, The Year of The Guitar!
Nashville-guitarist Porter McClister, the original inspiration for The BAND Festival is travelling from Nashville to Dunfanaghy for BAND 2019!
Porter is an extremely talented, Nashville based guitarist and singer. On the big stage, he was the lead guitarist with American country music star Tanya Tucker, as well as Gretchen Wilson. He sang back up to Alison Krauss on the “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” soundtrack. Porter will be joined by a host of extremely talented musicians from across Donegal!

Ardara-born Tanya McCole has been wowing audiences at home & abroad with her vocal style, songwriting capabilities and flair for interpreting songs of others. Having sung with artists including Sharon Shannon, Mundy and Shane MacGowan, Tanya spent 2018 touring with legendary John Prine.
A Donegal native & an incredible talent joining BAND 2019!
Craig & Willoughby are a world-class duo with wonderful singing, beautiful songs & incredible guitar skills.
Virginia-born Cathryn Craig has built a strong reputation as performer and songwriter singing with musicians such as Chet Atkins & The Righteous Brothers. Brian Willoughby is best known for his virtuoso performances with folk/rock band Strawbs and with folk-singer Mary Hopkin.
The BAND Festival 2019 will have over 40 events live across many great venues in Dunfanaghy, all with free admission.

Armed with a powerful & affecting voice, compelling songs & virtuoso guitar skills, California-native Shawn Jones has been captivating audiences for 25 years! Shawn has made his mark throughout the U.S. & Europe, sharing bills with many renowned musicians, including B.B. King, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Derek Trucks & many others!
Stephen Inglis is a Guitar Slinger & Word Singer from Honolulu who plays Grammy-nominated Hawaiian slack key guitar! A versatile artist crossing multiple genres, he records & tours with the most respected traditional musicians. His album Slackin on Dylan opened up new territory for slack key, winning him a Hawaii Music Award
Coming all the way from Italy to play in Dunfanaghy the Lovesick Duo are an incredibly vibrant & energetic two-piece that never fail to entertain a crowd! Rocking any guitar at hand & with the fastest double bass playing you’ll see this side of Pisa the duo explore Bluegrass, Country & Rock’n’Roll! Touring throughout Europe & the U.S. & returning to Donegal for BAND 2019!
Hailing from County Cork the Two Time Polka are an Irish Cajun band and a highlight of any festival they play! With a distinctive sound that has its roots in Cajun, Zydeco, and Bluegrass music they produce a spectacularly vibrant show! If you haven't heard them already come along & see why they are always a favourite in Dunfanaghy!
Mules & Men are an Irish 4 piece band bound together by a shared love of folk & bluegrass, reinterpreting these classic sounds into a unique and contemporary style of their own, drawing on influences that are wide ranging. With three part harmonies, blazing string playing , and inspired original material, this band has been bringing audiences to a standstill all over the country!
Donegal musicians Erdini are influenced by both their locality and the extensive culture of Ireland and incorporate elements of bluegrass, country, blues, jazz and traditional Irish music. They are well-known for their often raucous performances, blistering solos and scintillating vocal harmonies!
The Knotty Pine String Band have been playing together since the early 90s bringing bluegrass and American roots music to audiences all across Ireland, Europe and the USA! With a strong country-roots influence from the likes of John Prine & Kris Kristofferson the Knotty Pines are always a bluegrass festival favourite!
Ian Smith & Martin Crossin create the duo Piping Hot! Ian is a powerful multi-talented singer-songwriter. Martin is a master Uilleann piper & multi-instrumentalist! Their powerful combination makes them a favourite throughout their adopted home county of Donegal & much further afield!
This 5 piece band from Dublin have been performing their mix of predominantly electric guitar and fiddle playing American Roots music across countless festivals! From old time country folk ballads all the way to "high charged" rhythm & blues. Probably the original Irish Americana band, their music is everything you would expect from musicians dedicated to this genre!
A legend on the bluegrass scene throughout Ireland and the founding member of the extremely popular Broken String Band, Geordie’s fiddle playing is nothing short of extraordinary. Along with the incredibly talented Wilson Davies on guitar and double bass, Geordie will be leading vibrant sessions throughout the festival!
MossBound are a new and exciting duo who share a love of music and songwriting. Their fresh modern country sound is built around beautiful harmonies. Last year they travelled to Nashville after releasing their EP Stone & excited audiences with their own brand of country music!
The Hideaways are an Americana–influenced 3 piece band of singer–songwriters. Their trademark sound features Janine's warm vocals, perfectly matched by Clarke and Roy's harmonies and their understated acoustic and slide guitar accompaniment. They unveiled their new collection of songs at the Belfast Nashville Festival & will be sharing more at the BAND 2019!
High Heeled Converse are an acoustic duo from North West Donegal. Pat Muldowney on guitar and vocals is surely one of the finest working guitar players in Ireland today. He is joined by his partner, the gorgeous and irrepressible Caroline Coyle, who will bring her distinctive husky Celtic/Scottish influenced jazz and folk vocal styling to the mix!
A great welcome back to the Hillbilly Rednecks, the incredible 7-piece from Co. Donegal who are fast putting County Donegal high up on the Irish Bluegrass music scene. This band of accomplished and well respected musicians will be once again be bringing the heart & soul of Bluegrass music to Dunfanaghy.
A local favourite, The Hot Tamales are known for cooking up a wicked stew of Americana, Old Time Blues and Country with a sprinkling of Raucous Rock n' Roll! A well-established act on the vibrant music scene in the village it wouldn’t be a Dunfanaghy Festival without the incredible Hot Tamales!
A high octane, mostly ‘unplugged’ jam session from some of the North West’s top musicians, featuring guitar, bass, drums, piano, organ, harmonica and mandolin from former and current members of the Mudskippers, Graffiti Limbo, Men N Black , New Moon, Stray and others. These guys don’t take themselves too seriously and who knows what could happen or who might turn up to play!
The little band that make the big noise are how this 3-piece have been described. From Greystones, Co Wicklow, The Big Muddy have slowly crafted their Americana & roots sound in venues & Festivals throughout Ireland. Their blend of acoustic & electric covering the giants of the great American songbook, as well as their own compositions, gives the band their trademark sound!

Some of Ireland's most beautiful beaches, cliffs, headlands, forest parks and scenry can all be found in the area around Dunfanaghy. The location of Dunfanaghy makes it the perfect base for visiting the beautiful north west.
The village overlooks the magnificant Horn Head, is adjacent to the blue flag Kilahoey beach with its golden sands and crystal clear water, and is a short drive to the picturesque harbour at Portnablagh, the blue flag beach at Marble Hill, Ards Forest Park, Ards Friary, Doe Castle, the Rosguill Peninsula, the Fanad Peninsula, Glenveigh National Park.
Dunfanagy is also located right on the Wild Atlantic Way! Perfect!
The year 2019 will be the third year of The BAND Festival.
